Project Alice is a volunteer community outreach program by Prison Arts Collective, dedicated to creating safe spaces to express and form a community for individuals who are formerly incarcerated or otherwise system impacted. Project Alice hosted painting, drawing, creative writing and performance workshops on the 2nd Monday of every month from October (2019) to May (2020) in order to promote inclusiveness for all to be creative and connect with one another.

Prison Arts Collective is creating a collaborative art project Healing Quilt. Participants will explore the relationship between creativity and rehabilitation in communities impacted by the criminal justice system.
We will explore the issues and ideas that make up the fact that the USA maintains the highest incarceration rate in the world and imagine solutions to heal the Prison Industrial Complex. This collaborative art project will represent solutions, thoughts, ideas, freedom, creativity and rehabilitation of the self and others. Does everyone have the right to express themselves creatively? Is creativity an essential aspect of freedom? What effect does creativity have on rehabilitation? If you were to draw something for the incarcerated, what would it be and why?
Prison Arts Collective (PAC) works to bridge societal gaps in understanding others through art and believes that art is a human right. PAC facilitates weekly multidisciplinary arts programming on 15 yards in 10 state prisons with support from Arts in Corrections, a partnership between the California Arts Council and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Participants will gain insight into the meaning and experience of art in prison, engage in dialogue about the impact of art in the restorative justice movement, and create art and writing projects to reflect on the issues, narratives, and emotional responses to the exhibition.
This exhibition and related events are generously supported by the Justice Education Initiative at the Claremont Colleges, funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation; Murray Pepper and Vicki Reynolds Pepper Distinguished Visiting Artists and Scholars Endowed Fund; and Office of the Dean of Faculty at Pitzer College.
Beyond the Blue Exhibition and Panel Discussion,
MoAH: Cedar Center for the Arts - Lancaster, CA | August 31 - November 10, 2019
Beyond the Blue traveled to the Museum of Art & History's Cedar Center for the Arts. The collaborative project, 'Redemption', which was a workshop supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, was on display in the entryway of the gallery space. In the gallery, one room showcased artworks made inside the local prison, California State Prison, Los Angeles County, and the other room showcased artworks made in all of PAC partnering correctional institutions.

PAC was invited by Anti-Recidivism Coalition and Actors' Gang to exhibit artworks from Beyond the Blue and share an informational booth. The event was inside the LA River and alongside many talented artists.

Asm. McCarty's Open House & Art Show - Sacramento, CA | June 12, 2019
On June 12, 2019, Prison Arts Collective displayed artworks from the traveling exhibition "Beyond the Blue" is Assemblymember Kevin McCarty's office. Asm. McCarty supported the work being done by PAC and Anti-Recidivism Coalition.

Garcia Center for the Arts - San Bernardino, CA | May 10 - June 9, 2019
From May 10 through June 9, 2019, artworks from PAC's "Beyond the Blue" were on display in San Bernardino's Garcia Center for the Arts. Demonstrating the diversity of artistic styles and depth of creative expression among artists that are incarcerated, this exhibition provided the unique opportunity for viewers to engage with works created by those participating in University-led arts programming while incarcerated.

Prison Arts Collective expands access to the transformative power of the arts by providing programming in prisons and for communities impacted by incarceration.
With support from Arts in Corrections, a partnership between the California Arts Council and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the PAC offers weekly art programming on 15 yards in 9 correctional institutions. “Beyond the Blue” is a traveling exhibition of over 100 works of art created by incarcerated participants in PAC programming in California state prisons. The artists seek to transform their lives through art. They express their aim to shift society’s stereotypical image of ‘inmate’ or ‘prisoner’ by sharing their personal expressions, goals, and talents to demonstrate their shared humanity.

From January 14 through January 25, 2019, selections from PAC’s second major exhibition “Beyond the Blue” were on display in the Annex Hallway of the California State Capitol. To celebrate, PAC staff members and former participants traveled to Sacramento and partnered with Senator Jim Beall, Assemblymember Kevin McCarty, and the Anti-Recidivism Coalition to host a reception.

CERTIFICATE CEREMONIES
We host certificate ceremonies at the culmination of each 15-week session at the prisons where we facilitate classes. These ceremonies are meaningful to our participants and show their commitment and progress. We want to honor their achievements and some participants tell us it is the first certificate they have ever received. Others share that they send it home to their families to show that they are engaged in productive projects while incarcerated. Most take it to the parole board. These events are not open to the public, but family of the artists, friends of PAC, members of the press, and special guests are sometimes invited to attend.
